Disclaimer

Part IX, para. 18 of The Heraldry and Genealogy Regulations, 2021 (Cultural Heritage Act (CAP. 445), states that “All grants and registrations of Arms including the mention of honours and titles shall be without prejudice to the Ġieh ir- Repubblika Act and are made solely for historical purposes.”

This means that honours and titles may be mentioned and recorded in all Letters Patent and Documents of registration at the sole discretion of the Chief Herald of Arms of Malta following due verification of the documents presented. However, such mention shall not in any way equate with recognition of such honours and titles by the Republic of Malta.  State recognition is extended only to the totality of any coats of Arms which may be granted or recognised by the Office of the Chief Herald of Arms of Malta.
